Who We Are
Our Troupe
In early 2024, several friends who were doing improv on the Central Coast saw a need to share this dynamic performance artform with underserved communities, and started a troupe called Improv for Good to further the mission of channeling the power of comedy for charitable purposes.

Thia
"Instead of 'yes and,' accept whatever just happened or was said, and build on it with an authentic response." - The Second City’s Jonathan PittsIFG founder and director Thia has been improvising her whole life and several years ago started formal training locally. It was love at first laugh, as Thia found a creative outlet to balance her intensely analytical day job. Since then, she’s studied under Aretha Sills, the granddaughter of the mother of improv, Viola Spolin; participated in workshops at Bughouse Theater in Chicago; and taken virtual classes offered from England, Spain, and the U.S.

Janice
Improvisation helps seniors boost overall well-being, friendships, and joy. - Psychology TodayPlayfulness, laughter and doing good deeds are priorities for Janice in her retirement. She began her improv studies in 2022 and now performs across San Luis Obispo County, assists in teaching and shows up for just about every opportunity to play. Janice’s background performing as a singer/songwriter of happy little tunes has contributed to her willingness to get on stage and to be, well, just silly. You might see her around town with her singing dog, Patches.

Jean
Just say Yes, and you'll figure it out afterwards. - Tina FeyJean was introduced to improv and Viola Spolin games while in college, and has periodically jumped in to play over the last decades, counting ComedySportz Junior League, and a class with a local improv group among her experiences. Improv stretches the imagination, and informs scripted theater, which Jean also loves to do. The ability to listen to others, say Yes, and build with joy and grace is a life skill that can be learned and improved upon with practice.

Mike
You’re only given one little spark of madness. You mustn’t lose it. - Robin WilliamsMeet Mike, a fresh face in the world of live improv comedy. He’s bursting with energy and loves spreading joy and laughter wherever he goes. Not only does he enjoy making people smile, but he also finds great fulfillment in helping those who serve our community while ensuring everyone has a blast.

Enid
When you have a dream, you've got to grab it and never let go. - Carol BurnettEnid is relatively new to the world of improv but has always had a passion for comedy, driven by her love of laughter and the joy of making others smile. She dabbled in acting during college and was often praised as a natural comedian. Joining this improv group has been her best experience since relocating to the central coast. Enid is committed to making the world a better place, one laugh at a time.

Annie
Improv provides an opportunity to all for living what is alive in you. Let’s do that! - AnnieAnnie always listens to her inner voice saying go for it! Her performance inspires others to do the same. Lifelong experience on the stage as a musical performer made it her most comfortable place. Anne wrote and directed plays performed locally, wrote poetry and songs, and painted children’s faces at fairs for many years. Every performance is about solid entertainment, unscripted and spontaneous.

Noreen
That is the biggest cow you've ever seen! - NoreenNoreen milks invisible cows standing up.
